A great deal of talent is lost for the want of a little courage.

Outlines:
1. Introduction.
2. Lack of courage or initiative in different scenarios:
i. Lack of courage or initiative in Pakistani cricket team.
ii. Lack of courage or initiative in the poor family.
3. Suggestion note.

There come various occasions and situations in our lives when we bear heavy losses due to lack of a little initiative. Most people are afraid of failure of the initiative. They fear that their resource would get wasted if the initiative fails. But there are also peoples who cannot take initiative because of lack of resources. They are not afraid of failure but their inaction is due to lack of resources.



In the first category we can quote the management of the Pakistani cricket team as an example. In Pakistan there is a lot of talent in the shape of young cricketers. These cricketers are energetic and motivated who can turn a match in favor of Pakistan. But they are not being given an opportunity to serve the country. Management of the team is afraid lest these players should let the team down. Thus the nation is deprived of such matchless talent for want of a little courage.

For the second category we can exemplify the scenario by quoting the plight of a poor Pakistani family. There are families in Pakistan in which parents cannot send their children to school for lack of financial resources. It is possible that their children might emerge as shining stars. But such talent cannot come forward due to lack of resources. These parents might afford school fees of their children but they are too afraid of wastage of resources. Thus a lot of talent is lost for want of a little courage.

There is a lack of understanding, among such people, of benefits of the courage and initiative. They are short-sighted. They are only concerned with the wastage of their resources at the time of the initiative. But they do not forecast benefits of the initiative. If they carry out the cost-benefit analysis, they would realize that there are innumerable benefits of the initiative.

You are right,it is a tricky one. I also attempted it twice.In the first attempt i focused on the word TALENT but when i checked the answer from the book i came to know that the key word of the quotation is COURAGE,not talent. So in the second attempt,i focused on the word COURAGE.

do u have a written short essay on this topic. i mean from a book?

self-confidence
Timidity and self-distrust are almost as great faults as conceit and over-confidence.There are many people who have real talent in different lines and yet they never accomplish anything,because they are afraid to make the first venture.In this way, many good and useful things are lost to the world. A reasonable amount of confidence in one's powers is necessary for success.
